DIE DIE MUST TRY!
Many people say that Babi Guling Pak Dobiel is the best babi guling in town which is you die die must try. Anyway, do you know what is "babi guling"?
Babi guling is one of the famed dishes in Bali which is a whole pig roasted over a fire. 'Babi' means pig in Indonesian. Babi guling also known as suckling pig in English. A suckling pig is a piglet fed on its mother's milk.
Babi Guling Pak Dobiel is serve with steamed rice topped with roasted suckling pork, crisp liver, pork skin crackers, chili and lawar on the side. So, how was the taste? Well, I must admit that I'm not a pork lover but except this. The roasted suckling pork was great, it was not too tender but chewy. Actually, I can't remember the taste of the roasted suckling pork itself because it was empowered by the taste of lawar and chili. What is lawar? Lawar is a perfect combination of vegetables, coconut, minced meat and rich of spices. I love it so so so much! It was very delicious. Superb combination with the chili, it is a lot of garlic inside. I love the crisp liver, it was quite crispy and well marinated. I couldn't finished the pork skin crackers because that was fat stick with the skin, I'm not really like it. Overall, I love it especially the lawar and chili!
Anyway takeaway is different with dine in portion. If you dine in, it will be serve with a bowl of warm soup.
Of course the price also different. Actually, there is no fixed price. As per the information I got from others experiences, the price for dine in is much higher than takeaway. If you want for takeaway, please never ask the price for a portion but you mention the price first otherwise it will be more expensive. Example: "Mam, takeaway a portion for IDR 20.000 please."
This is portion of IDR 20.000 (less than USD2). I bought and ate it at Nusa Dua Beach which is just 5 minutes drive from Warung Pak Dobiel. Don't forget to get a spoon from there!
